Double Bass f-hole

Music for jacquielawson.com

When we're choosing music for a Jacquie Lawson e-card, an original piece sometimes seems a better fit than an arrangement of a classical favourite. Often this is because the card contains lots of action and the music needs to match the animation closely: I'm averse to introducing random cymbal crashes into a much-loved Tchaikovsky piece just to echo Teddy falling over! But sometimes it's just that a good tune has popped into my head.

Below I've selected a few original pieces which are personal favourites of mine. Since the e-card music is typically less than a minute long, I've extended these to make them into "proper" pieces of about 3 minutes each. I've also re-recorded them at a much higher sound quality than we are able to use for the e-cards on jacquielawson.com.

Clicking the images below will take you to the e-card on jacquielawson.com, so you can hear the music as it was originally published. The older ones sound pretty bad: technology has improved a lot since 2002!

The "Play Demo" button will play a 30-second extract of my new version. To purchase the full track as an MP3 download, simply check the appropriate boxes, click the Update Basket button below, and follow the instructions on the next page. The downloads cost £1.50 (or $2.00 US) each.

Magnolias

Magnolias

This is a somewhat elderly e-card - first published back in 2004 - but I've been asked more often for this music than any other! It has an Oriental feel to reflect the e-card design. Sheet music (for harp) also available.

Father's Day Rag

Father's Day Rag

I love ragtime music and this rag is obviously inspired by the great Scott Joplin. The recording is actually of me playing on a real piano, not my computer! Sheet music also available.

The Olive Tree

The Olive Tree

I was pleased with the way this one reflected the graceful movements of the birds in the e-card, and I think it works well as a standalone piece too.

One of the older e-cards - first published in 2005. I just like the tune - a happy, classical waltz!
